Work-life balance for attorneys

Ok, this is a topic that admittedly is in the minds of every professional. However, attorneys need to take it more seriously. As attorneys, we deal with large caseload, demand from clients and family obligations. How can a work life balance be achieved? Walking, exercising and reading motivational books should be part of the equation. If possible, blocking the weekend for family and personal activities and minimizing client interaction are very important. Taking vacation at least once a year helps us unwind and recalibrate for the next courtroom battle. Meditation is another tool that helps to reduce stress. In terms of time, how many hours within a day should we devote to ourselves?

Therefore, it is important that we maintain a healthy daily schedule that balances our professional duties and personal lives. A balanced attorney can better approach cases from different angles and come up with the best argument(s) to bolster his/her case. Our individual approach towards work-life balance may vary but we still need to strive to achieve it in our own ways.
